The Avatar Sagas

Is this apocalypse 2012? No. It's the Avaverse...or what's left of it.


It's been 200 years after Aang, after that great war that tore families and nAtions apart. Unfortunately, the world wasn't all peace and happiness after that.
Anti-bending revolutions rose with the next generation. The next Avatar, Korra, had to deal with that. She must have succeded because there are still benders in the world. The next Avatar, Dea, didn't have an easy either. While she was the Avatar, a plague swept out of Ba Sing Sei and circled the globe. Dea did her best to keep the calm and balence, but in the end, she was struck down. It seemed not even the Avatar, the omni-bender, was immune.


After the death of the Avatar, chaos broke out wholeheartedly. People were dying everywhere you looked. Without a cause for the sudden breakout, there was nothing to do but wait for it all to end. People are not always the most patient, so while waiting, they started blaming, blaming each other. The union of the four nations, that Avatar Aang had worked for, fell apart as bending classes came under fire as the reason the plague was spreading and decimating the population. Words were said; shots were fired. The next thing anyone knew, the four nations were at war. If you weren't on your deathbed, you were fighting.


The war didn't last very long. It couldn't, not with half the world's population dead and the other half trying to kill each other. There weren't many people around to farm the land or to raise the livestock or even to marry and have children. Food and water were on short supply now with so many dead or away from their fields. People started starving, and worse, those with food started lauding it over the heads of those without.



I said this wasn't an apoclypse, but maybe it is. The people can't think of anything worse than this. Where is the bright spark, the hope for tomorrow, the Avatar? No one knows, but this is The Avatar Sagas, so he/she has to be out there. The question is can the Avatar save the world this time. Plague. War. Famine. It seems an awful lot to put on one person's shoulders. Maybe we're wrong to expect so much, but this is a saga, a greT story. What's a story without a little turmoil?
